  • Solid wood flooring – brushed

If you are considering investing in a brand new wooden floor, you may be unsure what kind of finish would be suitable for your room. A brushed finish is somewhere between smooth and hand scraped – offering a smooth, linear texture which accentuates the grain patterns.

Available in a number of colours and patterns, the flooring is lightly treated by a wire brush which creates linear strokes across the grain of the surface. For species including oak and walnut, the distinctive grain is brought to life and can be stained with a matte finish. This helps to protect the surface from potential spillages and scratches.

Our flooring is available in two installation types – click loc or a tongue and groove system. These allow you to connect the planks together similar to a jigsaw. This also helps to increase stability, meaning you don’t have to worry about the longevity of your flooring.

Here are a number of tips to consider before you begin to install your flooring:

    • Solid wood is unsuitable for rooms that are prone to moisture, such as a bathroom or basement. Temperature and humidity can cause solid wood to buckle or warp over time.

    • Wooden flooring is an investment and can increase the price of your home.

    • Before you lay your flooring, inspect the subfloor for any even surfaces which may require drilling down.

    • Leave a 15mm gap around the perimeter of your floor. This allows for breathing space so the surface can expand with natural temperature changes.

    • Although you can use the “floating” method of installation, in which the planks are not permanently fixed, it is advised that you nail or glue solid wood to the subfloor. This ensures maximum stability.

    • The planks are purchased in varying lengths so you may have to cut some pieces to size using a Jigsaw

Solid wood is considered to be one of the eco-friendliest types of flooring available on the market. Carpets can often harbour dust termites and allergies due to its properties, but wooden flooring has a non-electromagnetic surface which eliminates the opportunity for a nasty allergen breeding ground. This type of flooring is particularly useful for dog and cat owners as fur can be removed with a broom or damp mop.

Our range of brushed flooring is sold with a generous guarantee so you can be confident that your purchase will stand the test of time. All of our flooring is made to the highest standard and we would be delighted to help you out whatever your budget.

Overview

If you are considering investing in a brand new wooden floor, it can be tricky to know what kind of finish would best suit your space.

A brushed finish is somewhere between smooth and hand scraped, offering an even, linear texture which accentuates the grain patterns - ideal for homes with a contemporary or classic look.

Our range of brushed hardwood flooring is sold with a generous guarantee too, so you can be confident that your purchase will stand the test of time!

What is brushed solid wood flooring?

Brushed solid wood flooring gives you the durability of wooden flooring as well as a unique finish.

Available in a number of colours and patterns, the hard wooden flooring is lightly treated by a wire brush, which creates linear strokes across the grain of the surface.

For species including oak and walnut, the distinctive grain is brought to life and can be stained with a matte finish. This helps to protect the surface from potential spillages and scratches.

Why would I choose brushed solid wood flooring?

Put simply, brushed solid wood flooring can bring a really high-end, luxurious look into your home that will stand the test of time. The brushed effect on the hard wood really enhances the grain and can add an extra element of texture in any room. Whether you've opted for a classic or modern style in your home, this unique look is one that's definitely worth considering.

What's more, our brushed hardwood flooring is very easy to install. The flooring is available in two installation types - click loc or a tongue and groove system. These allow you to connect the planks together similar to a jigsaw. This also helps to increase stability, meaning you don’t have to worry about the longevity of your flooring.

Where could I use solid brushed wood flooring?

Solid wood is considered to be one of the eco-friendliest types of flooring available on the market, which makes it a great option for any climatically-consistent room in the home.

Carpets can often harbour dust termites and allergies due to its properties, but wooden flooring has a non-electromagnetic surface which eliminates the opportunity for a nasty allergen breeding ground. This type of flooring is particularly useful for dog and cat owners, as fur can be removed with a broom or damp mop.

This kind of flooring would be perfect in a living, dining or bed room environment - but if you're looking to use under floor heating, take a look at our range of distressed engineered wood flooring
